Happy Halloween month, y’all! October has come around again so bloomin’ quickly this year, and I can’t believe we’re already in the final quarter of 2019.
01. A bit of rest and relaxation
I’ve been feeling a little under the weather recently (including one horrible week last week at home with gastroenteritis), and I think it’s got something to do with not having enough down-time. Although October looks like a pretty busy month, I’ve tried to plan in some more chilled weekends; I’m going to visit my parents with Felix and pup this weekend, then the weekend after I’m in Cardiff and going to see some friends in Oxford for a lil housewarming, then the weekend after is currently free, and the final weekend in October we’re off to a family wedding near Manchester.
Although that all sounds quite busy, I’m looking forward to spending time with lots of the people I love and getting out of the city for some fresh air.
02. Home changes galore
For the eagle-eyed Insta followers amongst you, you’ll already know about the drama of the bathroom ceiling falling down in my London flat (luckily nobody was hurt, although my flatmate was literally seconds away from having it come down on her head!), but now the ceiling problems have spread, and there’s a risk my bedroom ceiling will come down at any moment, gulp. So it’s time to move on, and hopefully find somewhere with cheaper rent (ha, as if!) and at the very least, sturdier ceilings!
Our little Cardiff house thankfully needs less major changes, but after living with possibly the most uncomfortable sofa in the world (so bad it’s lumpy where you’re sitting directly on springs) for over a year and a half, it’s time to upgrade. I also have my eye on a few other home bits, and I really want to work on making as many rooms as possible feel finished. Most of them don’t need much; the odd print, a rug, a new chair, or even just reconfiguring the furniture in the space to make it work best for us. I’m actually really excited about this – I love a home reshuffle!
03. Don’t be scared of the big decisions
2019 seems like the year of big decisions for me, and right now I’m mulling over another pretty big one. Without giving too much away (promise I’m not being unnecessarily cryptic – I’ll tell all soon!), there’s another potential life change on the horizon, and I need to find some way of deciding one way or another.
I should probably be thinking ‘I’ve done a lot of big things already in 2019, what’s another one?’, but this one I keep going back forth on a lot. Going with my gut and not dithering or procrastinating is something I’ve struggled with more and more as I’ve got older, and the temptation to overthink every decision is a strong one!
04. Get ready for Xmas…
I’ve got lots of ideas for this lil corner of the internet over the festive period (including my first blogmas, eep!), but it does also mean I’ve got A LOT to do before December rolls around! Although I’ve pretty much mapped out my topics already, I also need to find time to draft a plan for the photos, shoot what I need with the weekends I have left in Cardiff before the end of November, edit them and get all the words drafted – plus sweet talk Felix into helping me get all the decorations down for the loft well ahead of time…
It’s going to be a busy ol’ couple of months, but as I’m a bit of a Christmas aficionado, I’m pretty excited to get stuck in!
What have you guys got going on in October?
